Running Late But Right On Time

Updated: Jan 3, 2023

Running shopping centers keep me on the road a lot. There are a couple of times in the week where I am at the office. I remember one day in particular. It was pretty busy on the road the day before even into the late evening. I woke up really exhausted this particular morning, so the snooze button was hit quite a few more times than on a normal day. I figured okay I am going to get one last snooze in and then I really need to get going. When I woke up...yes I went ALL THE WAY back to sleep. I realized I overslept! I did not hit the “snooze button” that last time. I actually hit the “stop button” oh no! So I am scrambling trying to get myself together and out the door to catch the train to work. I finally get to the train and found that I just missed the one I was trying to catch that would get me to the office on time. My boss does not count our time and I do not clock in, however, it is an integrity thing for me. I like to be there at a certain time so I can leave at a certain time.

Here comes the later train. I already have in my mind what I am going to shift and how I am going to orchestrate my day since I am going to be late at this point. I am now on the train and settled for my ride over. After the train begins to move forward, within seconds I hear an announcement stating “your attention please, this train is an express train and will not be stopping at X...Y...or Z stations. If you need to get off at X...Y...or Z, you must get off at the next stop and wait for the next train.” WHAAAT?! Wait a minute. You mean to tell me that this late train is going to get me there on time? And that is exactly what happened. Although I missed the one train that would have gotten me to the office on time......getting on the LATE TRAIN which was an express train not making all of the normal stops, still got me to the office on time. HALLELUJAH!

Where are you in your life right now? On that day I had to evaluate myself and where I was in my life. On that train ride over I was thinking wow God I just thank you for giving me a preview of what could happen in my life spiritually when I am sleeping on your promises and the inheritance you have for me. I am talking straight out cold….knocked OUT on some things. The legit times we are hitting the snooze button all by ourselves causing our own delays because we are busy spending too much time on something else or doing something else out of our lane we have no business. Side Bar: Isn’t it funny how we, or excuse me, I-I-I- I expect God to jump and do a quick work BUT then we He needs me to do something, I am real slow with it. Too funny. Okay I’m back…Or when life comes and it is hitting the snooze button putting us back, or other times we allow the enemy to cause delays. I had to think about it....no matter what has happened to cause us to choose to snooze and sleep on the things that lead to our destiny, all we have to do is just get up, get out, and get going back on track. And as soon as we get going (not stop at “get up” or “get out”)….we still have to get going. And when we get to going.........Watch OUT! We don’t have to worry about being late on anything. As soon as you get settled in your “get going”, listen for the announcement that you are on the express and there are going to be some stops along the way you won’t have to make. Remember the prodigal son in Luke 15? By the end of the story when he decided to get up from his stinking low thinking, get out of the pig pen, and get going BACK ON TRACK TO his father’s house toward his destiny, his father gave him a hug and a kiss, called for the best robe and shoes to place on him, and he got a last minute coming home party. This prodigal son skipped a FEW stops. Ugh..I don’t even know if he got bathed putting all of that good stuff on lol. He went from sleeping on his inheritance by spending all of his inheritance to finding himself eating in a pig pen to getting the best and MORE (when he returned to his father) than what he had from when he left home.

How much more from our heavenly Father? God’s mercy is new every morning and His grace is enough. AND He is sovereign. There are seasons in our lives where an acceleration takes place through God’s grace to still get us to the point of our destiny right on time getting and achieving more and going higher than we were before. Don’t be discouraged because you got up late. GET UP GET OUT AND GET GOING! He is waiting for you. He wants to give you a hug and a kiss and give you the best getting you right where you need to be RIGHT ON time. Don’t sleep. He has need of you in the next season of your destiny.

SCRIPTURES:

Ephesians 5:14 New International Version (NIV)

14 This is why it is said:

“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

Micah 7:18 New International Version (NIV)

18 Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.

Psalm 18:33 New International Version (NIV)

33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.

Psalm 18:29 King James Version (KJV)

29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

PRAYER: Father you are amazing today and I lift you high above everything. Thank you for God for your mercy and your grace and for waiting for me to WAKE UP. Forgive me for sleeping on you. I break the snooze button over my life and my destiny. I declare the snooze button will not work and I will no longer be subject to it. God I lean on the energy of the measure of faith you have given me to accomplish and fulfill everything I need to accomplish here on earth. I come against laziness and pity parties. It is over. I am not late, I am right on time. Thank you for accelerating me and for advancing me. I am all the way up now. My life will declare your glory. From this day forward I will walk in the obedience of Christ and Get Up Get Out and Get Going! In Jesus Name Amen.
