Red Carpet Ready

My Wonderful Husband and I have been married it seems like forever and there are times still when before we go out I want to “RUN MY LOOK” past him. I can recall a number of times over the years when I asked my husband how did I look and his response was “YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL BUT IT’S NOT WHAT I THINK” OR “ I LIKE IT BUT DO YOU LIKE IT BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO WEAR IT”. I never liked those answers because my point was the fact that I was Mrs. Robinson and I wanted to make sure I was representing him well when we went out. It was important to me that he liked how I looked. And definitely vice versa. We had many teachable moments to drill this logic in Mr. Robinson to get my point across. He understood eventually…well kind of…HA. And trust me my children can tell you the many times I sent them back to their rooms to change their clothes because they weren’t going anywhere with me looking any kind of way.

Throughout the year there are music and movie award shows that go on and most of them have the red carpet interviews prior to the actual show. I absolutely love watching this red carpet pre-show, it is so exciting to see all the beautiful and sometimes very creative gowns and suits everyone is wearing. Did you ever notice when the celebrity comes over to be interviewed the interview host almost always compliments them on how wonderful they look and usually the first question they ask is “who are you wearing”. They want to know from head to toe who they have on. And when that designer’s name is spoken you better believe sales will be going way up for them. That designer, make-up artist, hair stylist, and barber will be having a good week that week thanks to that celebrity interview.

If you would please allow me to jump right in and have some honest moments here with you and ask you a few questions without you being overwhelmed. Who are you wearing when you are on the red carpet of life as a child of God and the bride of Christ? Yes life actually can seem like we are on the red carpet. And there are eyes watching and looking to see if we are wearing the famous name of Christ or another name doing our own thing. This is a spiritual thing going on in the heart, soul (mind-will-emotions), and spirit man. How are you living every day when you step outside your physical door or when you open your social media doors for everyone to see? How are you standing or responding to difficult times and difficult situations that come your way or in the way of others? How are you responding in these situations in public and in private? What are you saying and doing when no one can see you but Jesus? Are you asking Him how you look before you go out like I often have asked my natural husband. Are you running your look past Jesus because we are representing Him when we go out. Are you standing in the spiritual mirror (it could be 5mns or an hour) allowing Him to work on you, dressing you through your private worship, prayer, and reading of His word allowing Him to work on those issues behind closed doors. Are you asking your trustworthy godly accountability friends to help you check yourself? You do need these people in your life to tell you about yourself. What are you saying and doing when the world is watching (aka when you are on the red carpet of life?) Are you showing love, bringing hope that you can get through anything with Jesus, speaking life and faith, giving, and letting His Light shine brightly through you? How is your countenance or facial expressions? Understand that our flesh will never want to do this and we can at times have spiritual wardrobe malfunctions. Sometimes you may make it out the door and things aren’t right (your spiritual collar on your tuxedo shirt keeps flipping up or the one part of your dress is falling a part). Well you have your car, the bus, the train, a bike, and the plane to allow Jesus to come in and check you. If it’s really one of those days then when you get to that public place at work, school, the dentist office, or the auto mechanic or the grocery store, you may have to find a bathroom stall or a stairwell to allow Jesus to help you get yourself together. However and wherever it goes down, we must make a conscious decision daily to represent Christ as His bride and we need His Spirit to help us represent Him well.

Let’s not find ourselves on the worst dressed red carpet list aka Bridezilla wearing un-forgiveness, bitterness, anger, filthy communication, jealously, envy, strife, slander, and all other ungodly characteristics the bible speaks against. Side note…I was a full-time Bridezilla for a long time and although I made a decision to represent Him for the past several years, I still have to run my look by Jesus daily. None of us will “arrive” until we get to Heaven. So keep checking with Him.

Let’s instead make sure we are on the best dressed red carpet list as the Bride of Christ wearing the fruit of the spirit which is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, gentleness, and self-control. Also on the best dressed list is the armor of God (I will share in depth on this a later time). Again, this is a spiritual thing and we need to be connected to Him in order to wear these things. The bride of Christ is also spiritually minded, very attractive, speaks the truth in love, is gracious, plenty in mercy, brings hope, is loving, compassionate, bold, courageous, righteous, giving, trustworthy, a safe place, and operates in Christ’s authority drawing people to Him. He said in His word if I be lifted up from the earth I will draw all men unto me. Bridezilla is extremely unattractive, does her own thing according to fleshly desires, and draws attention to self far away from Him.

This is so important to understand because His bride the church needs to get bigger, time is running shorter and shorter because the Bridegroom Jesus will be coming back for His Bride. There is a Rapture awards show coming soon and you definitely want to be dressed for that mid air red carpet to the pearly gates. His word says he is coming soon and His reward is going to be with Him. His word also says it is not in His will that any man should perish. Let’s put our hands to the plow to help expand His Kingdom so we can ALL be ready when He comes back. We are not into people pleasing or worried about what others say at all, but we are into building His Kingdom, His bride. So, who are your wearing on you and inside of you? Let’s get excited about the things of God and be red carpet ready making His name famous today and everyday!

Revelation 19:7-8 AMP– Let us give Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the lamb has come (at last) and His bride (the redeemed) has prepared herself. She has been permitted to dress in fine linen, dazzling white and clean-for fine linen signifies the righteous acts of the saints (the ethical conduct, personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character of believers)

Galations 3:26-27 NIV-So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Psalm 119:73 KJV-Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.
